Frequently Asked Questions
Yes you can. The best way is to let me know the time frame you will be ready for your puppy and I will contact you when a litter is confirmed around that time.
If you are local you can pick your puppy by visiting our property after puppies are 3 weeks old. Although most people from further afield pick from videos photos and FaceTime chats. Because puppies are available to pick from birth sometimes waiting to visit at 3weeks reduces the number left you can pick from as some or all can be allocated from birth.
My puppies are generally $2500. Sometimes a litter may be dearer due to breeding costs ie AI or TCI. A deposit is required when you pick your puppy. A deposit is non refundable due to change of mind. This is because we take that puppy off the market early on and if we have to re-advertise him at a later date we may have lost potential families who were interested in a puppy earlier. The balance is paid on puppy pick up at 8 weeks of age at Bowan Park. If you choose transport for your puppy the balance must be paid and cleared 3 days prior to leaving our property
Depending on who you talk to or what you read on google the opinion can be varied. I say the best generation is the parents who are the healthiest! Regardless of any generation you must look at the all over health DNA confirmation temperament of the parents and the wider family tree. I have bred all generations over the years. I don’t breed first gens anymore. My puppies are usually a product of a Cavoodle mother X Cavoodle father or poodle father. I love this cross. They have sturdy bodies with slightly shorter legs beautiful soft curly coats and family friendly personalities. This breed suits active families just as much as they do an elderly couple that want a soft faithful companion.
Yes we are lucky to have access to an exclusive service in Puppy Express a door to door road service that will travel all over NSW and interstate if needed. They may be a little dearer than many transport companies but puppy has a direct trip as opposed to multiple stops and diversions with the big companies. They also take incredible care of the puppies. We do prefer puppies to be picked up from us so you can meet the parents and see their home enviroment but sometimes transport is necessary due to time restraints ,work etc. Once puppies have left our property on transport they travel at your own risk and your responsibility.
Yes we do. As some bitches are second third fourth generation we may also know their DNA by parentage. You will receive a copy of DNA report of the stud dog who is always DNA clear in your puppy pack.
My NSW Pet Registry Breeder number is B000851222. I am also a RightPaw verified breeder.
Generally no. While all dogs will drop some hair in the grooming process.. a bath blow-dry and slicker brush groom. A very small amount of hair should accumulate in the brush. But that is different to “shedding” where you see shed hair on furniture and floors. A fluffy fleece type Cavoodle has a very low allergenic minimal to almost zero shedding coat. A straight haired Cavoodle may shed a little bit but regular grooming should maintain the coat.
By breeding from carefully selected sound and healthy dogs our puppies are off to a great start in life. Our puppies are vet checked at 6-7 weeks of age for good health. Heart lungs eyes teeth jaw and hips and patellas are checked and cleared and noted in their puppy passport. They are vaccinated and microchipped at this time as well. The parents are carefully selected so at least one is 100% DNA clear. This ensures that puppies born here will not be able to develop any of the diseases tested for by Orivet that afflicts Cavoodles.
So when you receive your puppy we have done as much as we can to ensure you have bought a healthy puppy. What we can’t control is diseases or other conditions that may arise down the track. Just like humans we sometimes can’t explain why one child develops diabetes, a tumour or the like while the rest of the family or extended family is healthy. We do encourage families to let us know if they encounter any health issues. If your vet discovers a serious problem in the following two vaccination consults scheduled at 10 weeks and 13 weeks we will work with you to find a solution.
We will always help you rehome your puppy or adult dog. Just get in contact with us and we will help.
Your puppy will come with his puppy passport which documents all of his vaccinations, worming, flea treatment schedules and microchip documentation. He will have a fluffy toy that has been a litter toy so it has familiar smells for puppy to go home with. He will be wearing a collar and harness with a lead which will see him out for a month or two until he grows out of it. There is a printed double sided A4 pamphlet that will give you tips on feeding, toileting, bedding and our puppies day to day routine.
You will be given a menu plan to follow for your puppy. It will consist of a premium puppy kibble, cooked chicken and raw mince mixture plus raw bones for chew times.
No. We don’t recommend locking your puppy in a small crate to sleep at night. I know this is a craze atm but we encourage families see how our puppies are raised here and the routine and practices they have learnt. We have provided them with a warm safe night room which has access to outside grass via open dog doors for toileting. Our puppies take themselves outside via a dog door at their leisure. We do not pick up poos or mop up wee’s inside their room from the 6 week mark. So they are well on their way to being toilet trained and recommend you implement the same routine and set up in your own environment. If a dog door isn’t an option immediately at home a small room like a laundry or a large 3 x 3 metre sturdy puppy pen ( not flimsy Kmart varieties) with a fluffy bed , food and water bowls and a corner of fake grass mat for toileting if necessary is a good option. This way puppy isn’t made to toilet in his bed like he would be if crated. The first few days away from home is an unsettling time so keeping the routine the same will minimise stress. You can accustom him to a small crate for vet visits and transport in your own time once he’s settled in. This also allows for less intervention from you throughout the night in having to get up through the night to take him outside for pee trips.
This is one of the most frequently asked questions! If you have had experience with the larger breed dogs you may automatically presume a female is the easier puppy. In our experience we find the male Cavoodle ( desexed) to be the most stable easygoing, smoochy and devoted sex. While the girls are affectionate and loving they are generally more independent and a little more selective in who they call “ their person”. Boys are prone to love everyone equally. Girls are smart and sassy and love life! There is always one that goes against this theory but in general I like to asses each puppys individual nature and suggest the most suitable puppy for your family as opposed to gender alone.
Yes they do! Cavoodles love a friend. There is a settling in period where time together should always be monitored. A younger dog may accept and start playing straight away. An old dog may take a bit longer to accept or simply allowing regular time out from a demanding puppy will allow an older dog to acclimatise to a new puppy. We find a few weeks of introductions and time together leads to a good bond and quite often gives the older dogs a new lease of life.
A Cavoodle will require a regular 10 weeks grooming appointment with a professional groomer for life. This involves a bath blow-dry and full clip all over. Costs vary but allow for $90-$100 for that service. If done at 10 week intervals it will allow for a nice medium fluffy clip. If you want a longer teddy bear scissor clip you will need to reduce the timing to 6-8 week appointments and the cost may rise. We recommend when you pick your puppy up to book your groomer straight away for the first few puppy trims ( hiegene clip or face feet bum groom) before a full clip around 5-6 months of age.
Absolutely! Its a great experience for puppy and all the family to be involved in.
Yes we do. He is a very experienced natural server and will collect at the vet if needed for A.I or TCI procedures. His stud fee is $1000
